Grooms Genuine Remanufactured Marine Engines

Did you know there really are differences between a car engine and a boat engine?
Well if you think that they are the same you need to read on.

Marine engines are constantly under a load.  It is like pulling a trailer uphill all of the time.  To do this a marine engine must be built to exacting standards.  The clearances for oil and water must be tight and clean.  The cylinders must share the same bore size for balance.  The heads must allow the engine to breath.  Gasket surfaces must be true to allow proper sealing.  The best quality parts must be used on assembly.  All parts must be proven for severe duty to withstand the pain.  If any one of these parts or processes are not performed exact the entire package will suffer and fail.  The parts must all work together.  The cam must produce torque at a low rpm to allow you to get on plane.  The rods must be heavy duty and able to withstand the pounding of combustion event after combustion event.  In other words a marine engine does not have any coast time.

Here are just a few of the ways that Grooms gives you the peace of mind
that you have made the right choice.

Cylinder Heads:  All heads are either completely remanufactured or new.  Replacement heads are chosen from high quality cores and only certain castings are used.  Valves, springs, retainers, and seals are new.

Pistons: Hypereutectic Aluminum, high silicon content pistons with moly coated skirts are used to prevent damage from detonation and scuffing.

Piston Rings: Moly Chrome rings are installed to give the best seal and long ring life needed for the demanding marine engine.

Timing Chain: Double roller timing chains that withstand the stress and avoid the stretch that the stock single roller chain allows.

Valve Stem Seals: Positive locking, total seal valve stem seals are used.  The simple o-ring type seal just can't stand the heat and stress.

Need More: Connecting rods are checked for length and straightness and then shot peened for strength, cranks are polished and trued, cams are either new or reground for the exact marine specs needed to give you the torque where you need it most.  Blocks are baked at high temperatures and brush cleaned to prevent damage to the threads for head bolts and bearing caps.

Still think you are getting the best by saving a few dollars?  If not look at the application chart or catalog and give us a call for a quote.  You will be glad you did.  The Grooms warranty is 2 years! Year 1 full coverage and year 2 parts only.  Ask for details.
